Karaka ProjectKaraka Project
Created:    15 February, 2010

This project has been an ongoing one, with stages having being done over a number of years, starting in back in 2000. These clients were one of my earliest, when i was beginning to establish the business and have been wonderful people to work for. Their garden has evolved greatly ,over the years i have had a working relationship with them and will continue to be a favourite of mine. For a fuller description of the project and brief, refer to the testimonials ('Rob and J A.') page.

Pukekohe - Cape Hill ProjectPukekohe - Cape Hill Project
Created:    15 February, 2010

This project was carried out in 2005/06 and is situated on a rural lifestyle block in Pukekohe, South Auckland. The site is a north eastly facing slope bordered by pasture on one side and a stand of native bush on the other. The clients aims were to construct an outdoor entertaining garden space, with the centerpiece to be an inground pool. With these parameters in mind, i designed the pool to utilise the gradient , allowing a waterfall feature piece, with a small infinity edge face to the main pool also. The planting is based on a native / subtropical mix and will continue to grow well over time, creating a sheltered haven in which to enjoy the water.

Drury Hills ProjectDrury Hills Project
Created:    15 February, 2010

This project was started in 2007, but is yet to be completed.
The property is sited on the westly face of the ancient volcanic fields of the Drury Hills, South Auckland. The clients brief was fairly open in that they wanted to develop the property into gardens, with the only stipulation being the inclusion of a pool. Due to the site considerations - massive boulders (some the size of our 20 ton digger and larger! as some of the initial images show) just about everywhere you excavated and the fact i wanted the pool close to the house as the clients had a young family, i designed the pool to wrap around the edge of the house site, with an infinity edge to maximise the visual effect. The concept for the property consisted of a series of areas to be connected by a serpentine crushed limestone pathway bisected with timber boardwalks and pergola covered stepping stone pathways and pads, to be functional, yet providing a journey as one traversed through the garden.
As this project has only had its initial hard landscaping stages completed, the site still feels very bare, but the pool has been a standout and onced the different planting stages are completed, this will become a wonderful place surronded by limitless views.
